Grants & Scholarships
As contributing members of the Central Florida home building industry, we realize that our success is not solely dependent upon our own hard work and talents. It is also a reflection of the dynamic community in which we live and work. As the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando the mission of the Mid-Florida Home Builders Foundation is to provide, in perpetuity, a vehicle for the association to repay our community.
Although there is a broad base of worthy causes in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, two specific areas of particular interest have been targeted by the Foundation:
Youth – For there is no greater way to insure the community’s future than by helping a child, and
Education – For there is no better way to demonstrate our gratitude than by encouraging someone else’s dream to flourish.
Grants
The Mid-Florida Home Builders Foundation awards grants to children’s charities throughout Central Florida. The Board of Trustees meets the fourth Thursday, every other month. To be considered for a grant, submit the following two weeks prior to the meeting:
- A Grant Application written in the format provided in the Grant Review Criteria.
- A copy of your Statement of Financial Position
- A copy of your Independent Auditor’s Report
- A copy of your Exempt Status 501(a) as described in section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code
Scholarships
The Mid-Florida Home Builders Foundation sponsors academic scholarships at the University of Central Florida and Valencia Community College. These scholarships are awarded to Orange, Osceola or Seminole County students maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to children of HBA of Metro Orlando members or employees, although it is not a requirement. Applications are available through each school’s financial aid offices.
